She was right

Two years ago, one of my professors critiquing my work told me that few people who start a blog ever follow through with consistent content. Thus, there are many good writings out there with readers who want more. She said it’s best not to start one unless you’re going to keep it up. But oh, I was going to be different. And here I am, two years later, finally posting something.

Part of my problem is that there is just too much to write about in my life. It could be serious-like stuff, or it could be inspirational, funny, about my garden, about my family, about my job, about sewing and creating. It’s all art. Maybe it’s best to get do what’s on my mind at the moment. Right now, it’s the garden.

Well my garden is underway. I have seeds started in my new mini greenhouse. Last year my hubby, daughter, son-in-law and I erected a mini greenhouse so seed starts didn’t take up my entire kitchen. More about that project later! It’s still pretty cold out there so I’m running a little space heater and covering the starts with an electric blanket at night. I go out at night and cover them and turn the heater on, return in the morning to remove the blankie and let the sun in. It’s utilizing my nurturing side for sure.

So far all I have started in the new greenhouse is sunflowers, red onions, rudbeckia, black eyed susans, and impatiens. In February, I took all my seeds and categorized them according to their recommended planting time and whether to start them indoors or outdoors. My mid-March group has been delayed but I plan to get those in the soil today!

Hubby cleaned up last year’s leftovers from five of my 17 garden beds and we went to Costco and got Miracle Grow Raised Bed soil. So it’s on! Now if only this weather would break! I’m impatiens.
